Book Week 2023
What a lot of fun with books and reading we have had this week! Book Week took place between 20-24 February, 2023.
Many students and staff submitted their Book Cover Challenge photos which were displayed around the school on the big TV screens. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. All entries were placed in a hat for a drawing of 5 Euro gift vouchers the to ABC bookstore.
On Monday, the ISA community as a whole celebrated DEAR (Drop Everything And Read). Starting with an announcement from Dr. Carmody, everyone in the building stopped what they were doing to pick up a book and read for an uninterrupted 15 minutes.
In playgrounds around the Lower School, students could go for a Story Walk during their recess times. In Upper School, a Story Walk was displayed outside the library for students to read during their break times.
Tuesday was the great Reading Marathon. Students and ISA staff signed up to read in cozy seats in the foyer for at least 15 minutes and each seat was kept warm with a reader throughout the school day. In total 4065 minutes of reading happened in the foyer.
On Wednesday, the Upper School Library hosted a multilingual and multicultural seminar where Upper School teachers shared their home languages and meaningful texts. We also had our beautiful annual event – Global Village Day – which celebrates our community diversity.
On Thursday, ISA welcomed the American Book Center to sell books throughout the day.
And finally, Friday saw the popular book character dress-up day.
The Libraries would like to thank the Facilities team, Jay and Sonya from IT, Communications, Administration, the Security team and all our teachers, students and their families for celebrating reading in their own special way during Book Week!
