ISA Holiday Service Successes
The ISA community have been hard at work this holiday season. From collecting toys, cards and fruit to donate to children registered with the Amstelveen Food Bank, to sending over 180 gift boxes to students at a school in Moldova, ISA students, supported by SHARE, went the extra mile this year to bring a smile and some festive cheer to those less fortunate. Holiday Toy Drive, Cards from the Lower School and Fruit Donation
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the ISA Holiday Toy Drive! A group of grade 9 and 10 students sorted presents by age and gender, wrapped the presents and added Sinterklaas cards that were created by the Lower School Dutch classes. Some very nice toys were donated and we were able to collect a gift for each child registered at the Amstelveen Food Bank. The extra toys are being donated to Stichting Jarige Job – an organization that provides birthday toys to children in need. SHARE was also involved by donating a net of mandarin oranges, a requested item, to every single family as a gift for the holidays. We dropped off the presents, cards and mandarins last Wednesday at the Amstelveen Food Bank and they were delighted to be able to give these to their families.
Gift Boxes for Moldova
IBDP CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) is part of the ‘Core’ of the IB Programme. For Sinterklaas Celebrations at ISA on Friday, 4 December, the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students purchased items that were requested by the students at the school in Moldova. Items were things such as hats, soap and toothbrushes. SHARE supported this initiative by providing a set of coloured pencils and sweets for each box that was sent. The students also heard a message of thanks during their time and efforts from our contact here, in the Netherlands. ISA sent 181 boxes to the children in Moldova.
